Marvin Blevins Science Building CampaignSubmitted by Beth on Sun, 10/30/2005 - 11:04pm.
If you appreciated Mr. Blevins as a teacher, you might want to help out with these efforts... ------------------------ Dear PHHS Community: When PHHS science teacher Marv Blevins retired it was decided to honor him by naming the science building after him but district policy dictates waiting 3-5 years after retirement to before naming a facility. The waiting time is over and Brandon Lemmon is leading the effort to officially name the science building the "Marvin Blevins Science Building". Mr. Lemmon needs to collect letters of support to present to the district facilities naming committee which will then present them to the school board trustees for approval. Mr. Blevins touched thousands of lives during his time at PHHS and in other schools in San Diego. If you were one of these people we would appreciate a letter of support for the new building name. The letters can be brief but need to state WHO you are, HOW you know Mr. Blevins, and WHY you think he was extra special and should receive this honor. The collection of letters need to show a broad range of support from former students, colleagues, community members, athletic team members, current staff, etc. Your letter should be written to the San Diego City Schools Board of Education, but PLEASE MAIL IT to Brandon Lemmon, 6702 Wandermere Dr, San Diego CA 92120 or drop it off in the PHHS school office. Mr. Lemmon will gather them together and submit them as a package to the district naming committee. Please forward this message to anybody you know who could write a letter of support. Contact Mr. Lemmon at blemmon@sandi.net for more details about this project. Thanks for your help and support of Mr. Blevins. 637 reads

Slow & Steady... Averaging 10 New Alums Per WeekSubmitted by Beth on Sun, 09/18/2005 - 11:30pm.
This week's magic number is 43. So far, that's how many of your classmates have created accounts on this web site to let everyone know they're alive and well. If you're keeping track, that's 11% of our approximately 400-person class. Actually I've never really counted how many people were in our class. Somehow I got the number 400 in my mind and it stuck. If you have a more accurate count, or want to help with figuring it out once and for all, let me know. I hope your September has been fun and fulfilling so far. Have a fabulous week, PHHS 92!
